“My
parents' story is a painful one because of the struggles that my parents had to
go through and also my grandmothers. My father crossed the border first. He moved
from el D.F. to Mexicali in 1956 and then to Oasis in 1967. I believe he did it
legally because my grandfather fixed his paper work so that he could come over.
My parents actually met in Harbin, California at a farm labor camp located in
the Central Valley. They Married on July 29, 1971 and settled in Coachella.”
