“I changed jobs because in the fields they only pay minimum wage and you work very hard. If you go somewhere else they are going to pay more. Maybe just a quarter, dollar, or fifty cents. But you make more and they give you the opportunity to move up and it is a stable, secure job. That is the reason why I wanted to find other work and because now that we have fixed costs we need a good job. In the picking job the season is only for six months and then you need to get unemployment benefits. With unemployment you do not make enough to pay the rent, insurance, everything that you need to pay.”
